Video Window

A video camera mounted on a ten-metre fishing pole is attached to the roof of one’s house, with the view displayed on a screen indoors which is always left on.  The result is a new kind of window for the home, offering an enhanced view, but one with its own characteristics – lens flare, enhanced night-time vision occasional swaying in the wind – and maintenance requirements. Originally devised by one of the team, Bill Gaver, for his own home, it is an early example of autobiographical design research.
